Energy Transfer LP is scheduled to report its third-quarter results before the market opens on Tuesday, with investors focused on whether the midstream operator can maintain its growth momentum as commodity-related gains ease from the exceptionally strong second quarter.

Analysts expect the Dallas-based pipeline company to post earnings of $0.40 per unit on revenue of $30.98 billion for the September quarter. The forecast would represent a significant sequential decline from the second quarter, when Energy Transfer reported earnings of $0.59 per unit, well above the $0.37 analyst consensus.

Wall Street remains broadly positive on the stock. Twenty of 23 analysts rate it a buy, while the consensus price target is $24.70, compared with a current price of $20.91. However, earnings estimates have fallen by about 10.5% over the past two months, while revenue projections have remained largely unchanged, suggesting caution about near-term profitability rather than expected volumes.

A key issue will be the expected moderation in commodity-related earnings. Mizuho analyst Gabriel Moreen said in an October report that market conditions should normalize from the unusually strong levels seen in the second quarter, while maintaining a positive view of Energy Transfer’s ability to continue expanding.

Investors are also expected to examine the company’s role in the growth of AI data centers. Energy Transfer has secured commitments for approximately 900,000 Mcf/d of natural gas volumes for Oracle AI data centers and is pursuing expansion projects in the Permian Basin and along the Gulf Coast. These initiatives position the company to benefit from rising power-generation demand.

Capital allocation will be another focus following Energy Transfer’s $2.625 billion acquisition of Vaquero Midstream. The transaction increased the company’s presence in the Delaware Basin, while additional growth spending is directed toward new natural gas liquids and export infrastructure. That includes Nederland LNG docks costing more than $1 billion and not scheduled for completion until mid-2029, creating a multiyear gap between investment and cash-flow generation.

Energy Transfer recently increased its quarterly distribution to $0.3425 per unit, representing a 6.66% yield. The move indicated confidence in cash flow generation despite elevated capital expenditures.

The quarterly report will offer investors a clearer view of whether Energy Transfer can manage near-term earnings pressure while advancing its longer-term plans for AI-related gas demand and LNG exports. Year-over-year estimates call for earnings-per-share growth of 43% and revenue growth of 55%.
