Gainers outnumbered decliners by roughly three to one in the Toronto market session on Nov. 3, according to a stock screener covering Toronto-listed companies with market capitalizations above CA$1 billion. The screen identified 39 stocks rising more than 3% and 12 falling more than 3%.

Gold and silver miners were the weakest group among the decliners. Thomson Reuters was the notable non-mining stock to fall. The figures were based on delayed screener snapshots rather than live quotes.

Thomson Reuters had risen 22.3% over the preceding month, while its relative strength index (RSI) stood at 68.7. The source described the day’s decline as a possible pullback after that recent advance.

Several mining stocks were already in oversold territory, with RSI readings of 26.4 for Americas Gold, 24.6 for Imperial Metals and 25.8 for China Gold. Their continued declines suggested selling pressure remained, the source noted.

Among the gainers, 5N Plus climbed about 21% on the day after losing 21% over the month, recovering only part of its earlier drop. The source said most gainers extended their moves compared with an earlier screen; 5N Plus rose from a gain of 20.8% to 21.38%.

The report said it had not checked news for the companies listed, so the reasons behind the stock moves were unknown.
