Global asset manager Apollo officially launched a €10 billion ($11.2 billion) European credit platform on Monday, aiming to capitalize on the increasing demand for private financing across the continent. The new initiative is designed to support Europe's expanding investment needs in critical areas such as defense, energy, and infrastructure.

Named the European Credit Company (ECC), the platform will focus on providing corporate and asset-backed lending solutions to companies, sponsors, and real asset owners. Apollo highlighted that this launch reflects a broader boom in Private credit funds, with rating agency Moody's forecasting that assets under management in this sector could surpass $2 trillion in 2026 and approach $4 trillion by 2030.

The ECC platform boasts significant backing from a diverse group of international investors. These include the sovereign wealth fund Abu Dhabi Investment Council, European insurance group Athora, Japanese bank Norinchukin, UK-based Standard Chartered, and US alternative investment firm Aranda. Operationally, the company maintains a presence in Frankfurt, Jersey, London, Luxembourg City, and Milan.

Leadership for the new platform has been assigned to Chief Executive Officer Giacomo Petrobelli and Chairman Christian Meissner, who will work in coordination with the wider Apollo franchise. Petrobelli stated that the formation of ECC is driven by a generational opportunity to mobilize global capital pools to finance Europe's long-term growth agenda.
