Venezuela is in talks to send a second shipment of aluminum to the United States, in what would mark another step in the symbolic resumption of trade after years of economic and diplomatic disruptions.
Trading house Mercuria Energy Group and private mining investors Heeney Capital are negotiating with Venezuelan officials, according to people familiar with the discussions. They said the proposed deal would likely have terms similar to a 15,000-metric-ton cargo that arrived in New Orleans in late September.
The next shipment is expected to depart by the end of the year, the people said. They requested anonymity because the talks are ongoing and private.
