Swedish inflation slowed more than forecast in October, according to preliminary figures released Thursday by Statistics Sweden. The Riksbank’s target measure, the CPIF, declined to 1.1% from 1.5% in September.

Annual consumer price inflation (CPI) eased to 0.9%, down from 1.1% the previous month and below the 1.2% forecast. On a monthly basis, CPI was unchanged, compared with expectations for a 0.3% increase and a 0.9% rise in September.

The CPIF measures the same goods and services as the CPI but keeps household mortgage interest rates constant. It was also unchanged month on month in October.

The CPIF measure excluding energy, known as CPIF-XE, fell to 0.1% from 0.5% in September. It declined 0.2% over the month. “Preliminary figures show a dampened inflation rate in October,” said Mikael Nordin, a statistician at Statistics Sweden.
