South Korea’s Financial Services Commission will introduce a system for cornerstone investors in initial public offerings, aiming to curb sharp share-price declines after companies list.

Under the rules, institutions that agree to lock up their shares for at least six months will be eligible to receive allocations in advance. The system received government approval on Tuesday.

The rules take effect Nov. 13, alongside amendments to the capital markets law.
