Sarah Chamberlain, president and CEO of the Republican Main Street Partnership, said Democrats may need to win the House by at least 25 seats to give Hakeem Jeffries enough room to secure the speakership and advance legislation.

Chamberlain said the arrival of new members on the far left could make it harder for Jeffries to rely solely on Democratic support. As a result, she said, he may need to work across the aisle with Republicans to get legislation passed.
