Reliance Industries shares climbed 6.2% to ₹1,237.4 on Monday, recording their strongest single-session gain in nine months after the company reported quarterly earnings above market expectations.

Consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders increased approximately 40% year on year to ₹25,548 crore for the July–September 2026 quarter. Revenue rose 27.8% to a record ₹3,62,268 crore, while EBITDA grew 23.9% to ₹62,409 crore.

The oil-to-chemicals segment was the main contributor to the performance, benefiting from improved global fuel margins. Reliance’s digital services business, Jio, also delivered steady growth. Average revenue per user increased to ₹219 from ₹216 in the previous quarter, while net subscriber additions reached 9 million.

Brokerages responded positively to the results. Nuvama Institutional Equities retained its buy rating, although it lowered its price target slightly to ₹1,703 to reflect a holding-company discount ahead of the expected Jio Platforms listing. Equirus issued a Long rating and set a target of ₹1,537, describing the quarterly results as better than anticipated.

The retail business remained comparatively weak, but its performance was outweighed by gains in oil-to-chemicals and telecommunications. Management also reiterated that Reliance’s new energy business remains on schedule to begin contributing to earnings from FY28.

The wider Indian market provided a supportive backdrop. The BSE Sensex opened about 718 points higher and was up roughly 1%, while the Nifty 50 also advanced at the open. Reliance’s rise nevertheless exceeded the oil sector’s gain by around two percentage points, suggesting that company-specific earnings momentum was a major factor behind the move.

The shares had recently traded close to their 52-week low of ₹1,152.2. Monday’s advance marked a sharp rebound from those levels, although the stock remained below its 52-week high of ₹1,611.8.
