Bank Negara Malaysia is expected to keep its overnight policy rate at 2.75% at its final policy meeting of the year on Thursday, with resilient economic growth leaving room for a potential increase in early 2027.
Of 23 economists surveyed by Bloomberg, 17 forecast no change, while six expect a 25-basis-point hike. The central bank has held borrowing costs steady since cutting the rate by a quarter point in July 2025, a preemptive move intended to cushion the economy from higher US tariffs.
