Japanese authorities are prepared to take action if movements in the currency market become disorderly, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said on Monday, one day before the US midterm elections.
Katayama said Japan would act in line with its ongoing agreement and discussions with its US counterpart. She told reporters that the two countries had been coordinating frequently and were expected to continue responding in that manner.
“If there are disorderly movements or excessively speculative moves, we will take action,” Katayama said.
