Intesa plans to launch €33 billion Monte Paschi takeover bid later this month

Intesa Sanpaolo SpA plans to launch its €33 billion ($37 billion) takeover bid for rival Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA by the end of November, according to people familiar with the matter.

The offer is currently scheduled to begin during the week of Nov. 23, the people said. They requested anonymity because the plans have not been made public.

The timetable remains subject to change. An Intesa spokesperson declined to comment.
