Industrial and Commercial Bank of China shares rose 3.3% on Monday to reach HK$8.155, as investors reacted positively to the bank’s third-quarter 2026 results. The figures pointed to a recovery at the lending group and exceeded market expectations.
The world’s largest lender by assets reported quarterly net profit of CNY 111.96 billion, an increase of nearly 10% from the same period a year earlier. Revenue also grew by approximately 9.6% year over year.
Asset quality remained stable during the quarter. The bank’s non-performing loan ratio held at 1.29%, while its net interest margin was broadly unchanged, reducing concerns about pressure on lending profitability that had affected valuations of Chinese banks in previous quarters.
Management indicated that full-year loan growth should remain stable at around 6%, a rate above the national average.
The wider market offered a modestly positive backdrop. The Hang Seng Index edged higher amid continued optimism over economic stimulus measures from Beijing, while U.S. equity futures also advanced moderately after heavy losses in October.
