Gold held above $4,000 an ounce after recording its biggest one-day surge since August. Bullion traded around $4,070, following a 3.3% gain in the previous session.

Treasury yields fell across maturities on Wednesday after Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress in the US midterm elections. A measure of the US dollar also declined 0.4%, its largest drop in two months, helping bolster gold’s appeal.
