Fresenius shares rose 1.8% to €48.675 after the Bad Homburg-based healthcare group announced an exclusive development agreement with WuXi Biologics. The deal gives Fresenius option rights to as many as 37 potential biosimilar candidates over the next decade.

The agreement could expand Fresenius’ marketed and pipeline portfolio from 29 molecules to as many as 66. The candidates address more than €370 billion in originator sales. Fresenius described the arrangement as the largest development agreement announced to date in the biosimilars industry.

Chief Executive Michael Sen said the agreement offers a disciplined and scalable way to potentially triple the company’s portfolio while preserving economic ownership, strategic control and flexibility in capital allocation.

Fresenius maintained its full-year 2026 guidance and reaffirmed its 2030 Biopharma target of approximately doubling revenue from 2025 levels, with an EBIT margin of about 20%. The company said the agreement could support growth beyond those ambitions. Development spending is expected to be funded through operating cash flow, without the need for new financing.

Under the arrangement, Fresenius retains strategic flexibility and full commercialization rights. It may also use the mAbxience network, which has been wholly owned since October 2026, for a portfolio covering 13 therapeutic areas.

The broader market environment was also supportive. The DAX was expected to open slightly higher, while the S&P 500 had gained 0.4% and the Nasdaq 0.8%. JPMorgan maintained its Overweight rating on Fresenius and a €55.20 price target, with analyst David Adlington forecasting third-quarter revenue 1.6% above consensus.
