Geopolitical conflicts and trade tensions are accelerating the rerouting of global commerce, according to Deborah Elms, head of trade policy at the Hinrich Foundation.
Elms says companies are likely to continue diversifying their operations and pursuing friend-shoring. However, those efforts do not necessarily guarantee supply chain stability, as trade patterns shift at higher cost.
