David Colla, global head of credit investments at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, has warned that the rush to finance artificial intelligence is showing signs of “bubble-like” exuberance.

Colla said investors should carefully scrutinize their exposure to the emerging technology rather than allowing enthusiasm around AI to reshape portfolios without sufficient consideration.

“You cannot wake up one day and just say, ‘Well, we just had this theme that AI was great, and we woke up and it was 25% of our portfolio,’” Colla said in an interview.
