Blackstone President Jon Gray said on Tuesday that the technology sector will need more equity fundraising to meet the expected scale of growth in artificial intelligence. He was speaking at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit.
Gray said major technology companies were expected to raise additional capital. He cited Meta, Google and Oracle as potential equity issuers, and mentioned possible public listings for SpaceX and Anthropic. He also pointed to the substantial data-center and energy requirements associated with AI.
Gray said he remained confident in AI infrastructure, citing what he described as extraordinary demand for computing power. Demand is currently running ahead of supply, he said, which gives him confidence in the sector.
Technology stocks around the world have faced pressure in recent weeks amid growing concerns about AI spending.
