Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has secured contracts worth up to 280 billion rupees ($3 billion) to supply equipment for four projects being developed by Adani Power Ltd., according to a company statement issued Wednesday.
Each project will have two 800-megawatt units. The individual contracts are valued between 50 billion and 70 billion rupees.
The orders point to increased private-sector spending on new power-generation capacity in India.
