Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of Mexico’s former president and a member of the ruling party, has denied involvement in alleged corruption cases as scrutiny grows ahead of a possible run for Congress.
In a video posted on social media Tuesday, López Beltrán said a campaign supported by political adversaries was seeking to falsely portray him as corrupt. He singled out conservative billionaire and media mogul Ricardo Salinas among those he said were backing the effort.
Media reports have alleged links between López Beltrán and cases involving fuel smuggling and the alleged favoritism of friends in government contracts.
